RECAP

The B2 championship was ready to go Sunday night as the number 1 seeds 47 Belsize faced the number 8 seeds Raiders. Back in January, the only meeting between these 2 teams, it was a one-sided affair as 47 Belsize romped the Raiders by 29 points. In fact, the whole season, 47 Belsize lost 1 game. From the outside looking in, the Raiders were in over themselves as they started on a disadvantage when big man Mikey Maurus was out. To much surprise, the game was a seesaw battle throughout, as The Raiders held their own. After taking a slight lead of 6, they managed some key stops and with time close to expiring, 47 Belsize’s Alex Fyon hit a 3 that he was fouled on. That was as close as it would get as The Raiders would win against all odds and cause the biggest upset of the season, taking this one 88-77. Game MVP Alex Lamarche dropped 28, Justin Mclean came up big with 22 and Jonathan Brasnett added 18 as they take their first B2 title. Despite not taking this last one, 47 Belsize had a stellar season, and Alex Fyon was solid once again as he finished the night with 26.
